Gimeno Guitart is an award-winning Madrid and Buffalo-based office of architecture formed by Daniel Gimeno and Miguel Guitart. Their work is characterized by rigorous geometry, material sparseness and timeless solutions. In addition to practice, the firm is deeply involved with research and teaching at international level.
Daniel Gimeno is an architect from the School of Architecture of Pamplona at Navarre University (ETSAUN). Gimeno worked with Juan Miguel Otxotorena from 2000 through 2003. In 2004, Gimeno moved to Madrid to start his PhD studies as well as his own professional practice. Among other projects, his work includes 237 housing units for the Spanish Housing Ministry in Navalcarnero (2007), 98 housing units for transitory housing for the Parla City Hall (2006), and the new headquarters for the Departament d'agricultura (DAR) in Conca de Barberà for the Generalitat of Catalonia (2009). His work has been widely recognized with several open competition awards, and exhibited through specialized publications and exhibitions. Gimeno is currently working on his doctoral thesis under the title Mies van der Rohe 1926. Gimeno is a licensed architect in Spain, and he is founding Principal at Gimeno Guitart. Gimeno currently lives in Madrid, Spain, where he leads the office in Spain.
Miguel Guitart is a Ph.D. architect and educator from Madrid, Spain. He obtained his Ph.D. in Architecture Summa Cum Laude in 2014 at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid (ETSAM). He studied architecture at the ETSAM, obtaining his professional degree Summa Cum Laude in 2000 and his Master’s Degree at the Graduate School of Design GSD at Harvard University, graduating in 2003 as a Fulbright Scholar. He is Clinical Associate Professor at the School of Architecture and Planning (B/a+p) at the State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNY). Guitart has taught at EINA University of Zaragoza UNIZAR (Associate Professor 2013-2014), UPSAM University (Associate Professor 2006-2014), the Boston Architectural Center (Teaching Fellow, 2002-2003), Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid (Visiting Lecturer, 2013, 2012, 2010), Harvard University GSD (Visiting Critic, 2002), ESNE-UCJC (Visiting Lecturer, 2011, 2012), and the School of Design and Construction at Washington State University (Visiting Lecturer, 2014). Guitart has written numerous articles on architectural theory in international magazines such as the Journal of Architectural Education JAE, Cátedra Cerámica, RA, Constelaciones, TC Cuadernos, ZARCH, Future Arquitecturas, Radar, and Arquitectura COAM, among others. Guitart has also published and contributed to several books. Miguel Guitart is a licensed architect in Spain, and he is a founding Principal at Gimeno Guitart. Guitart currently lives in Buffalo, New York.

Daniel Gimeno es arquitecto por la Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura por la Universidad de Navarra (ETSAUN). Durante los años 2000 a 2003 colabora en el estudio de Juan Miguel Otxotorena en Pamplona. En el año 2004 se traslada a Madrid para iniciar los cursos de doctorado e iniciar su actividad profesional independiente. Entre sus proyectos destacan las 237 viviendas en Navalcarnero para el Ministerio de Vivienda (2007), 98 viviendas de residencia transitoria para el Ayuntamiento de Parla (2006) y la nueva sede del Departament d'agricultura (DAR) de la Generalitat de Catalunya en la Conca de Barberà (2009). Su obra ha sido reconocida con diversos premios en concursos de arquitectura y ha sido exhibida en numerosas exposiciones y publicaciones especializadas. Actualmente desarrolla su tesis doctoral bajo el título de Mies van der Rohe 1926. Es director del despacho en la sede de Madrid.
Miguel Guitart es Doctor arquitecto por la Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (ETSAM) con calificación final de Sobresaliente Cum Laude. Se gradúa en 2003 con Master in Architecture en el Graduate School of Design GSD de la Universidad de Harvard como becario J. W. Fulbright. Durante esos años, Guitart es profesor invitado en el Boston Architectural Center y participa en el programa de arquitectura Career Discovery del GSD de Harvard. Entre 2006 y 2014 es Profesor Asociado de Proyectos en la Escuela de Arquitectura de la Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca UPSAM, y entre 2013 y 2014 es Profesor Asociado de Proyectos de la Escuela de Ingeniería y Arquitectura de la Universidad de Zaragoza UNIZAR. Su trabajo es seleccionado para la exposición JAE Jóvenes Arquitectos de España en Madrid, Nueva York, Bruselas, Venecia, Estocolmo, París, Roma, Estados Unidos y Latinoamérica, la Fundación Próxima y los Premios de Arquitectura de Mallorca. Es autor de numerosos artículos en publicaciones internacionales como Journal of Architectural Education JAE, Cátedra Cerámica, TC Cuadernos, ZARCH, Radar, RA Revista Arquitectura, Future Arquitecturas y Arquitectura COAM.
