La revista de arquitectura internacional Future Arquitecturas publica en su número doble 35/36 la propuesta de Gimeno Guitart para el nuevo centro de convenciones de Orio, fruto del concurso de ideas de 2010 y en el que Daniel Gimeno y Miguel Guitart obtuvieron el Primer Accésit.

The international architecture magazine Future Arquitecturas includes in its double issue number 35/36 Gimeno Guitart's proposal for the 2010 architectural competition for the new Orio convention center, in which Daniel Gimeno and Miguel Guitart were awarded the First Mention.

Miguel Guitart impartió la conferencia titulada Three Arms. One Mind en la School of Architecture and Planning en la Universidad de Buffalo, NY, el pasado viernes día 8 a las 12:30. El contenido repasaba las tres actividades principales desarrolladas en el estudio, investigación, docencia y práctica profesional, como aproximación global del ejercicio de la arquitectura.

Miguel Guitart gave the lecture Three Arms. One Mind at the School of Architecture and Planning at the University at Buffalo, NY, last Friday 8 at 12:30pm. The content explored the three major activities developed at the office, research, teaching and professional practice, as a global approach in architectural exercise.

Construcción vivienda NRC / House NRC Construction

Gimeno Guitart comienza la construcción de la nueva vivienda NRC en Madrid con los trabajos previos de demolición. La vivienda estará terminada después del verano de 2013.

Gimeno Guitart starts the construction of the new house NRC in Madrid with the preliminary demolition works. The house will be finished after the summer of 2013.

La exposición JAE YAS Young Architects of Spain se inaugura en MIAMI el 7 de Marzo con la presencia del ex-chief curator de arquitectura del MoMA de New York, Terence Riley, en el Centro Cultural Español (CCE) de Miami. El acto se enmarca dentro de los eventos de conmemoración del 500 aniversario del descubrimiento de Florida. El 26 de Abril la muestra viaja a OTTAWA, donde podrá verse en la Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism de Carleton University.

Nuevo centro turístico / New Tourist Center, Ibiza

The proposal for the new Tourist Center in Sant Josep de Sa Talaia is inspired in the iconic classical Greek temple, austere and dignified as it stands atop a platform that overlooks the sea. The new building for the city and the island of Ibiza is conceived as a temple borne out as a produce of contemporary culture, focused on its social, economic and intellectual uneasiness. The new equipment becomes a beacon that hosts events and visitors from everywhere.

Diez viviendas / Ten Dwellings, Riudoms, Tarragona

El proyecto se plantea como un único edificio, como una caja de ladrillo blanco que reposa sobre los muros de piedra que separan los jardines de cada una de las viviendas. En los extremos, la caja de ladrillo vuela sobre el muro para acentuar la independencia de ambos elementos.

The project develops a single volume, a white brick box that sits atop a series of bearing stone walls that divide the gardens. The brick volume cantilevers on the sides to emphasize the independence of both elements.

Gimeno Guitart coordina la edición del segundo volumen del anuario de proyectos del curso académico 2011-2012 de la Escuela de Arquitectura de la Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca Campus de Madrid UPSAM. El libro recoge una selección de proyectos realizados por alumnos de los distintos talleres de proyectos de la Escuela.

Gimeno Guitart coordinates the second issue of the Design Studio Year Book of the academic year 2011-2012 at the Pontifical University of Salamanca Campus Madrid UPSAM. The book comprises a selection of designs by students from all the workshops at the school.

En el espacio NH en Madrid Gimeno Guitart lograba un exitoso maridaje entre espacio expositivo, comercial y social. El espacio funciona como exposición permanente de mobiliario de firmas como Rimadesio, Porro o Living Divani y ha sido escenario de anuncios televisivos y eventos de todo tipo en los últimos siete años.

In the space NH in Madrid Gimeno Guitart succeeded at combining exhibition space with retail and social. The place functions as a permanent furniture showroom with firms like Rimadesio, Porro or Living Divani, and has been used as a background for tv ads and all types of events throughout the past seven years.

Detalles materiales / Material Details

Gimeno Guitart trabaja los materiales y los detalles con enorme precisión en uno de sus últimos proyectos concluidos, la vivienda JT en Madrid, donde la madera de Mongoi y el granito negro de Zimbabwe son protagonistas. Una atención similar se produce en las obras de la vivienda BM en Mallorca y la vivienda RDS en Tarragona, ambas en construcción.

Gimeno Guitart works with materials and details ith enormous precision in one of the office's latest finished projects, the House JT in Madrid, where Mongoy wood and black Zimbabwe granite are prime elements. A similar attention can be drawn from works like the House BM in Majorca and the House RDS in Tarragona, both under construction.

Vivienda RDS / RDS House, Tarragona

Gimeno Guitart recibe el encargo de reformar la vivienda RDS en la ciudad de Tarragona. El inmueble, situado en el casco antiguo de la ciudad, albergará un programa compartido de vivienda y oficina, poniendo en valor las excepcionales vistas sobre la catedral de Tarragona y el jardín interior con abundante vegetación que convertirán la vivienda en un pequeño oasis urbano.

Gimeno Guitart will design and build the new house RDS in Tarragona, Spain. The site is located within the city historic center and will house a shared program of home and office space. By enhancing the exceptional views onto the catedral and the lush garden, the design will transform the house into a hidden urban oasis.

El artículo de Miguel Guitart «Paisaje exterior y paisaje interior» acaba de ser publicado en Interferencias, la última publicación de la Unidad Docente dirigida por Daniel Huertas Nadal, del Departamento de Arquitectura de la Escuela Politécnica Superior de la Universidad Francisco de Vitoria. El contenido del artículo se enmarca en el proceso de investigación doctoral desarrollado por Miguel Guitart.

The article «Paisaje exterior y paisaje interior» («Outer Landscape and Inner Landscape») by Miguel Guitart has just been published in Interferencias (Interferences), the last publication by the Design Studio coordinated by Daniel Huertas Nadal, at the Architecture Department of the Polytechnic School of the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria. The content of the article is part of Miguel Guitart’s on-going doctoral research.

La pasada semana visitamos el estudio del artista César Barrio con motivo de la exposición celebrada por la inauguración de su nuevo estudio. En la visita hubo ocasión de comentar los detalles de próximas colaboraciones en algunos de los proyectos en marcha en el estudio Gimeno Guitart.

Last week Daniel Gimeno and Miguel Guitart paid a visit to artist César Barrio on the occasion of the exhibition of his work scheduled for the opening of his new studio. Gimeno Guitart had the opportunity to talk with Barrio about details concerning collaborations with ongoing projects between both studios.

Biennale de Archittetura di Venezia, 2012

Invitada por el arquitecto británico Sir David Chipperfield, la Escuela de Arquitectura de la UPSA en Madrid participa en la muestra “University Project for Biennale” de la Biennale di Venecia 2013 con el título Common Ground. Planteada como una investigación conceptual sobre el territorio común, el taller ofrece una oportunidad única para la reflexión de los espacios comunes, domésticos y urbanos, con la participación de los arquitectos Bernardo Angelini, Miguel Guitart, Jacobo García-Germán, Fermina Garrido, Carlos Fernandez Pinar, César Moreno y Mara Sánchez Llorens bajo la dirección de la arquitecto chilena Pilar Pinchart.

Invited by British architect Sir David Chipperfield, the UPSA School of Architecture in Madrid will be participating in the exhibit “University Project for Biennale” at the Biennale di Venecia 2013 under the title of Common Ground. Organized as a conceptual research on the territory, the workshop offers a unique opportunity for a brainstorming on these common spaces at a domestic and urban scale with the architects Bernardo Angelini, Miguel Guitart, Jacobo García-Germán, Fermina Garrido, Carlos Fernandez Pinar, César Moreno and Mara Sánchez Llorens under the supervision of the Chilean architect and curator Pilar Pinchart.

Miguel Guitart impartió ayer día 24 de abril la conferencia titulada Estrategias de producción de los filtros cerámicos en el marco del primer Congreso sobre Cerámica y Arquitectura organizado por la Cátedra Cerámica de Madrid y Ascer en la ETSA de la UPM. Otros ponentes fueron Alejandro Virseda, Estudio Entresitio, Luis Martínez Santamaría, José Ignacio Linazasoro, QVE arquitectos y Javier Bernalte, entre otros.

Miguel Guitart gave the lecture with the title Production Startegies of Ceramic Filters at the first Congress on Ceramics and Architecture organized by the Cátedra Cerámica and Ascer at the ETSA of the UPM on April 24th. Other lecturers were Alejandro Virseda, Estudio Entresitio, Luis Martínez Santamaría, José Ignacio Linazasoro, QVE arquitectos and Javier Bernalte, among others.
